In this sci-fi comedy, Darla runs a business called Kitty Kasket, LLC which makes custom caskets for cats. Darla is stunned to learn that she owes $349,00.22 in taxes, due in one month!

“It is one of the most gonzo pieces of magical realism I’ve seen produced on an indie budget….Laplante and Moon have presented a vision of life that’s just a touch off-kilter and uncanny, and I thoroughly enjoyed every minute of it. Truly, this is a once-in-a-lifetime sort of film that comes along and sits in your mind. It’s great.”

Benjamin Franz, Film Threat

“The dazzling, silly Darla in Space is everything that indie film does best...this is the kind of film that can only come from a very rare and precious kind of collaborative energy, and it is this bringing together of such like-minded weirdos both behind and in front of the camera that surely provides the magic which allows this aggressively wackadoodle little movie to so gracefully stick its landing.”

Alexandra Heller-Nicholas, AWFJ

Darla In Space is an amazing character exploration— every character, no matter how briefly they appear, seems well-established in the film’s world and plays an important role…Darla In Space is an unexpected buddy comedy that beautifully hones its absurdity into something that is fun, hopeful and highly entertaining.”

Ben Trentelman, SLUG Magazine

Darla in Space is a surreal comedy that defies conventions while remaining grounded. It’s a testament to the power of imagination and the enduring spirit of adventure. It’s also just damn funny. ”

Kristy Strouse, Film Inquiry

“An impressive directorial debut from Eric Laplante and Susie Moon, the film is centered around the insanely talented Alex E. Harris, who gives a multifaceted performance that could best be described as a mesh between Kristen Wiig, Aubrey Plaza, and Andy Kaufman - animated, introverted, hilarious, sad, with lived-in authenticity and theatrical absurdity. This extends to the narrative and tone as well, which can be best described as if Peter Strickland and Quentin Dupieux adapted Her, only shot with a loose, formal intimacy.”
